Ohio After a severe vehicle accident in Franklin County on Saturday night, two persons lost their lives.
On June 28, just before 7 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the 27200 block of West Chapel Road after someone reported that a car had hit a house, a tree, and a utility pole.
Authorities said that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was speeding westward.
At the top of a slope, the car went airborne and damaged the road when it landed. After that, it went off the north side of the road, crossed to the south, and collided with a utility pole.
The vehicle proceeded through a patch of grass, struck a tree, shot into the air once more, and then struck a house on West Chapel Road.
At the scene, the Impala’s two occupants were declared deceased. Robert William Leo Dunham, 49, of Oldenburg, Indiana, was recognized as the driver, while Jesse E. Brummett Jr., 51, of Sunman, Indiana, was identified as the passenger.
The sheriff’s department reports that alcoholic beverages were discovered at the site and that toxicology testing are still being conducted.
Evidence and witness accounts point to excessive speed as a major contributing factor in the collision.
