Mississippi In connection with the death of a man who overdosed on fentanyl, two Saucier males have been taken into custody on felony charges.
The suspects were identified by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office as 31-year-old Christopher Devonte Bunch and 28-year-old Cameron Michael Coffman.
A 35-year-old man overdosed on fentanyl on June 7, prompting the Harrison County Narcotics Task Force to react to the 22000 block of Saucier-Lizana Road.
The victim was discovered by officers in possession of fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia.
Investigators concluded that Coffman and Bunch provided the fentanyl in question after analyzing the evidence and speaking with witnesses. According to officials, both guys were aware of the risks associated with fentanyl and willingly provided it.
Coffman and Bunch were arrested after search warrants were executed at two sites in Saucier. A judge set their bail at $500,000 apiece after they were brought to the Harrison County Jail.
According to a news statement from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation shows the aggressive approach to prosecute those involved in fentanyl distribution and to make these individuals more accountable for distributing fentanyl that results in death.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and the D Iberville Police Department provided support for the investigation.
According to officials, further arrests are anticipated and the investigation is still ongoing.
