Two people arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

North Carolina As part of the Asheville Police Department’s proactive crime prevention efforts, two people were arrested on felony drug charges in West Asheville on June 23.

Officers contacted 40-year-old Stephane Michelle Vosburg at 5:47 p.m. while responding to community complaints, according to a news release.

Officers found that Vosburg had an unresolved warrant. She was taken into prison without incident after being discovered in possession of drugs during the arrest.

Vosburg was accused with second-degree trespassing and possessing Schedule II narcotics. A $3,500 secured bond was used to lodge her into the Buncombe County Detention Facility.

When a motorcycle was observed riding in the opposite direction on a one-way street and failing to stop at a stop sign, police halted it on State Street later that evening.

The rider, identified as Steven Lamar Rice Jr., 54, was apprehended without incident when it was discovered that he was in possession of a quantity of drugs intended for trafficking.

The charges against Rice include two counts of felony possession of Schedule II drugs, felony trafficking in opiates by transport and possession (Level I), felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed firearm, driving with a revoked license, failure to display a license plate, and a stop sign violation.

A $100,000 secured bond was used to place him into the Buncombe County Detention Facility.

The arrests, according to the police, are a part of continuous initiatives to address neighborhood issues and lower local crime.
