Ohio On the morning of June 26, a chain-reaction collision involving eight automobiles closed both lanes of Interstate 75 close to State Route 103, resulting in two fatalities and one minor injury.
Around 11:31 a.m., when traffic in the southbound lanes had slowed, the collision happened.
A 2019 Volvo semi and trailer driven by 29-year-old Barinder Sarao of Ontario, Canada, impacted the slower traffic after failing to stop in time, causing a string of incidents, according to the Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
All traffic was stopped when Sarao’s semi swerved into the median, struck the cable barrier, and entered the northbound lanes. I-75’s northbound and southbound lanes were temporarily closed as a result of the collision.
Among those hurt was Barbara Andrews, 69, of Toledo, who was transported by Bluffton EMS to St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima after suffering severe injuries.
Additionally, HANCO EMS carried Crowell Owens, 57, of Blythewood, South Carolina, to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay after he suffered severe injuries.
Mary Starks, 53, of Columbia, South Carolina, was treated on the spot after suffering minor injuries. There were no reports of injuries from other drivers or passengers.
For failing to keep an ensured clear distance, Sarao received a citation. According to authorities, drugs and alcohol are not thought to have played a role in the collision.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, Bluffton EMS, HANCO EMS, the Bluffton Police and Fire Departments, and many towing companies were among the responding agencies.
