INDIANA Three people have been taken into custody by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office as a result of an investigation into a synthetic methamphetamine distribution ring, also referred to as bath salts.
The investigation started early this year and brought deputies to a house on South Jackson Street in the town of Shelburn, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
On the evening of Thursday, June 19, a search order was issued and carried out for the property.
According to reports, deputies, Indiana State Police troopers, and the Shelburn Town Marshal entered the house and saw people trying to pour suspected bath salts down a drain.
In the end, authorities confiscated almost 80 grams of suspected bath salts, a number of drug paraphernalia items, and other items that were associated with the distribution of drugs.
Three people were taken into custody on preliminary allegations of dealing a prohibited substance: a 35-year-old woman, a 48-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old male. They have not yet been identified by name. The inquiry is still under progress.
