According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Witten was a four-star talent from Glenville High School in the 2024 recruiting class.

Witten was signed by Ohio State as a receiver, despite the fact that the recruiting site ranked him as the 28th-best tight end in the country.

During his black stripe removal, he was honored as such by posing with a brilliant bunch of OSU receivers, including standout Jeremiah Smith, to mark the occasion.

This offseason, Witten is the seventeenth rookie to have his black stripe removed. In this way, he is the eighth freshman.

Quincy Porter, a fellow receiver who lost his black stripe in April, was the first freshman to have it removed.

In the spring, Porter was the only rookie to have his black stripe cut off.
