South Euclid’s National Night Out canceled due to unruliness of several juveniles

Ohio’s South Euclid — Due to huge groups of teenagers acting violently and defiantly toward police, the city’s annual National Night Out program for security awareness was canceled shortly after it started on August 5 at Bexley Park.

Officers found that a group of roughly fifty teenagers had gathered around two girls who were fighting in a neighbor’s front yard across the street at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Both 13-year-old girls were taken into custody by officers, who also scattered the crowd, which led to the females returning to the event and starting to form big groups.

A 17-year-old boy was once found to have a felony warrant with the city. Although he managed to escape on foot, he was apprehended and held for interfering with official business. Soon after, the decision was made to call off the event.

The teenagers were reported to have disrupted traffic on major roads and been unruly in local businesses during the course of the following four hours. Some were given citations by officers for not using a crosswalk when crossing the street.
