CLEVELAND, Ohio — Save the date for next weekend, when the great Zoar Antique Show and Artisans Tent arrive in the quaint German village of Zoar, Ohio.
The whole town participates with such hospitality and Old World charm!
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27. Your admission ticket of $12 per person (free for children younger than 12) is for the Antique Show, Artisan Tent and the historic museum buildings.
The show features 60 quality antique dealers, plus more than 30 artisans in the Artisan Tent and folk artists set up around the village with many demonstrations.
Wagon rides, sheep dog demonstrations and food set-ups can be found throughout the town. It’s a glorious look back at a simple German life.
Smithsonian Magazine in 2017 included Zoar as one the 20 best small towns to visit. I heartily agree!
In years past, German crafts included Black Forest carvings, ceramics, glass blowing and textile arts.
Cuckoo clocks were a tradition, too — delicate yet substantial. Their striking sound is often a reminder of earlier times!
Suburban Clock & Repair in Berea has been a mainstay since 1953 — a valued community resource, with modern clocks as well as the true antiques!
Among toys, German makers were quite inventive in the1930s and 1940s with their array of military equipment. Not only did headlights work and engines rumble, but parts were movable and interchangeable.
Marklin had two toy zeppelins that flew with propellers and could even be suspended by cords.
Hi Brenda,
This little carved bear head was at one time an inkwell. We lost the glass insert, so the individual crystal salt works as a makeshift alternative. His teeth are all intact! Value today?

Hi Jean,
Love your Black Forest carved bear inkwell! The crystal salt is a perfect substitute for the glass insert. As an antique, he holds his own value at $125.
