Los Angeles After a fight with lung cancer, Australian-born actor Tristan Rogers, who was most famous for playing international spy Robert Scorpio on ABC’s General Hospital, passed away on Friday. He was seventy-nine.
According to Rogers’ obituary on Legacy.com, he was only supposed to appear in two episodes at first, but his portrayal of Scorpio struck a chord with viewers so strongly that he was cast as a permanent cast member. Since his passing, fans have poured their thoughts into his obituary’s guest book.
Finola Hughes, a longtime co-star who played Scorpio’s wife Anna Devane, honored Rogers on Instagram.
My friend, I wish we could do one more scene together. She remarked, “On that first day to practice, Tris just walked into my life.” Steel blue eyes and cropped hair made me think, “Damn,” “I’m going to be working with Steve McQueen!” He made me giggle by calling me “Finny” or “kid” from the very beginning.
I feel terrible for his wonderful wife Teresa and his kids, Sara Jane and Cale. He loved talking about his family since they brought him so much joy. I cherish you, Trissy. Hughes’s writing.
On her Instagram, Kimberly McCullough, who portrayed Scorpio’s daughter Robin on the program, paid tribute to Rogers by posting a picture of them cuddling with the simple message, “Trissy forever.”
According to People, Rogers’ manager, Meryl Soodak, characterized him as a loving family guy and professional who took great pride in his career and his loved ones.
General Hospital wouldn’t be the same without Rogers, according to executive producer Frank Valentini, Parade said.
In addition to General Hospital, Rogers had a diverse career in both prime and daytime television. He became Colin Atkinson on The Young and the Restless in 2010. He had an appearance on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2011. He also won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for his role as Lex Martin in the web series The Bay, which ran from 2010 to 2019.
Rogers’ career has included cameo appearances on prime-time shows, such as Walker, Texas Ranger, Babylon 5, and V.I.P. Additionally, he provided the voice of characters in animated series including Batman Beyond and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.
