NEW YORK CITY, New York — At a time when shelters nationwide are facing overcrowding, television host and Vanderpump Rules star Adriana Madix is partnering with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to launch a nationwide campaign encouraging people to adopt shelter pets.
The Rescue impact campaign emphasizes how adopting one animal can have a cascading impact, releasing resources and space for shelters to assist other animals.
According to the association, Madix, who is most known for hosting Peacock’s Love Island USA, her Broadway stint in Chicago, and her involvement on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, will use her social media platforms and the ASPCA’s digital outlets to promote the campaign until October.
According to a news release from Madix, “you’ll see so many wonderful animals just waiting for a second chance when you visit a shelter.” The decision to adopt even one pet has an impact on other animals as well, giving them a better chance of finding homes.
According to the ASPCA, around 6 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues in the United States in 2024. Shelters are trying to find homes for pets with a range of requirements, including those with behavioral or medical issues, because they have limited resources and animals sometimes remain longer before being adopted.
Having adopted multiple creatures throughout the years, Madix said her advocacy is a result of her lifetime love of animal rescue. Mya Moon, a pit bull-mix adopted during the coronavirus pandemic, and Kitty, an 18-year-old cat she rescued in New York City, are among her current pets.
Christa Chadwick, the ASPCA’s vice president of shelter services, stated in the statement that she was “ecstatic to have Ariana Madix join the ASPCA for The Rescue Effect and use her voice to advocate for the millions of adoptable animals in need of loving homes.” Her assistance will raise awareness across the country about the vital role rescue organizations and shelters play in saving the lives of animals and how each adoption has a beneficial, long-lasting effect on even more
The program will run until Adopt a Shelter Dog Month in October and involves over 550 shelters around the country, according to the ASPCA. Additionally, the ASPCA is giving more than 100 shelters grants totaling $2 million to aid with operating expenses and adoption fees.
Lisa Vanderpump, who also heads the Vanderpump Dog Foundation, is a well-known animal champion who aims to stop dog abuse and encourage adoptions, much as Madix.
