The state of Virginia Rayjuan Antonio Calloway, 24, is being sought by Roanoke Police on suspicion of shooting and killing his father, Israel Calloway, 57.
Authorities reported that a Farmville Police officer had observed the suspect on Prince Edward Highway on Sunday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Rayjuan Calloway allegedly shot the officer before running away, according to officials.
State and local law enforcement officials are currently conducting a comprehensive search in Prince Edward County.
Residents have been urged to lock their doors, stay indoors, and report any suspicious behavior to 911 if they live within five miles of Prince Edward Highway and Hixburg Road.
Law enforcement is asking anyone with information regarding Rayjuan Calloway’s whereabouts to come forward as the investigation is still underway.
