CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police say they have learned the identity of a 3-month-old baby who was

abandoned outside a home

on Wayside Avenue.

The baby remains in the custody of the Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services. The name of the baby was not released by police.

According to a news release, the baby was brought to the police department’s Fifth District station at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The person who brought the infant to the station reported finding the baby abandoned in front of a residence in the 900 block of Wayside Avenue.

The baby was found to be in good health after being evaluated at a hospital, police say. There were no signs of injury or abuse.

Ohio does have a “Safe Haven” law that allows parents to surrender a child anonymously at a hospital, fire station or police station without facing charges. However, the child must be under 30 days old.
