Illinois The Decatur Police Department reports that a 23-year-old male from Chicago was hit by a car Thursday night while strolling along N. Martin Luther King Drive and was taken to the hospital with potentially fatal injuries.
At around 10:20 p.m., officers were called to a reported personal injury accident in the 3400 3600 block of the route.
According to their preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was walking south in the same lane when he was struck by a 2006 GMC Envoy driven by a 69-year-old Decatur man who was traveling south in the right lane.
According to the police, the pedestrian had a blood alcohol percentage of.167, indicating that they were under the influence of alcohol.
In addition to not wearing luminous apparel, he was using the road rather than a nearby sidewalk.
There were no indications that the driver was intoxicated, and he was not hurt. No more information has been made public, and the incident is still being investigated.
