One person dead following vehicle crash in Ohio

Ohio According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old Dayton woman was killed in a three-vehicle collision in Darke County on Monday morning.

The collision happened in the 1200 block of State Route 49 close to Graw Road at approximately 8:12 a.m.

Da Sika Verdell, 27, was driving a Hyundai Genesis south on SR 49 when it tried to pass two semi-trucks, according to the authorities.

The Hyundai struck a northbound Ford F-150 head-on during the move.

After the initial impact, the Hyundai was also struck by a Chevrolet Traverse that was behind the Ford.

It took the use of mechanical tools to free Verdell and her passenger, a 42-year-old Dayton male.

They were sent to Miami Valley Hospital with severe injuries, along with the Ford’s driver. The Chevrolet’s two occupants refused on-scene medical assistance.

Later, Verdell passed away in the hospital from her wounds.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash.
