The state of Virginia Virginia State Police say a two-vehicle collision in Amherst County on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a 91-year-old lady.

Around 2:30 p.m., a Lexus that neglected to yield at a stop sign collided with a Nissan that was heading east on the Amelon Expressway.

The Nissan ran off the left side of the road and into a treeline as a result of the incident.

Deion Taliaferro, 91, was recognized as the Nissan’s driver. After being taken to a hospital, she passed away from her wounds.

The Lexus’s 17-year-old driver, who was unharmed, is accused of failing to give the right-of-way. Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
