North Carolina The Durham Police Department reports that a 4-year-old boy was killed in an unintentional shooting on North Briggs Avenue on Monday night.
According to authorities, the child unintentionally shot himself after gaining access to an unlocked pistol inside a house, according to the preliminary investigation.
A witness at the scene, Rhonda Rappoccio, claimed that after being called into the street, she discovered the toddler and his mother.
She claimed that when an ambulance showed there and took the boy, it did not sound its sirens.
The boy was transferred to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead, according to a news release from the police.
