One person dead after vehicle strikes bridge in North Carolina

North Carolina According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a woman from Rowland lost her life Thursday night after her car collided with a bridge on Interstate 95.

Around 5:50 p.m., troopers arrived on the scene near I-95 southbound mile marker 7.

The driver, a 25–26-year-old woman named Kayanna McCallum, was driving a 2013 Ford SUV at a fast speed when she tried to enter the median to avoid slower traffic.

Her car drifted across both southbound lanes after McCallum overcorrected, according to officials, before swerving off the road and colliding with the bridge structure over I-95.

McCallum passed away right there.

Transportation officials examined the bridge after the collision and declared it safe for use.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
