Ohio Police in Fremont say a 55-year-old man died Monday night after being hit by a train.
Mark Traver has been identified as the victim.
Shortly after 11 p.m., Norfolk Southern police called Fremont police about a person who had been struck by a train. Just north of State Street is where the incident happened.
Traver was hit while he was walking on the tracks, according to the police. At the scene, he was declared dead.
Authorities said there is no suspicion of foul play, but the Sandusky County Coroner will do an autopsy.
According to a statement from the Fremont Police Department, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Travers’ family as well as the Norfolk and Southern Conductors and staff who are dealing first hand with the loss of a loved one and tragic event.”
