Animal complaint and suspicious activity: Shaker Boulevard

Just after midnight on August 1, a resident reported two deer making angry noises in the 34000 block between SOM Center Road and Topping Lane.

The caller was unable to provide any other details on the deer, including its size, age, and gender, and it was assumed that the suspects had left when the police arrived.

Nottingham Lane, stolen vehicle, follow-up investigation

Sirius XM alerted police to a stolen Jeep on Aug. 3 that was tracked to the same location that the business had reported three times in a single day on July 24.

As the inquiry proceeded, Hunting Valley police discovered that Maple Heights cops were searching for the Jeep and went out to investigate the area as well.

Suspicions and further investigation: Chagrin River Road

Officers were still looking into a report of a bicycle going up a driveway and peering into a window of a house between Fairmount Boulevard and Hunting Hill Farm Drive in broad daylight four days prior on the morning of July 30.

Police had already increased patrols and paid particular attention to the area.

Around 10:30 a.m. on July 28, officers watched as a gas company crew dealt with a leak just north of Roundwood Manor.

At 4:34 a.m. on July 28, police received a report of a strange car, but they were unable to find it.

Dog at large, lost animal: Hackney and Roundwood roads

Following an initial report at 10:38 a.m. on August 2, officers helped locate and bring home a lost dog.

Individual well-being: SOM Center Road, Fairmount Boulevard

Around 4:30 p.m., a caller voiced concern that a teenager would be struck by an automobile while riding his bike eastward up a hill. When the police checked on him on August 3, nothing more needed to be done.
