Ohio’s East Cleveland Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire in East Cleveland that killed a 69-year-old man and damaged two other residences.
After firemen combed through debris for over twelve hours, they found Leslie Hiller’s body under his porch. According to East Cleveland spokesman Justyn Anderson, the fire started at Hiller’s home in the 1600 block of Bryn Mawr Road, where he had resided for decades, at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Both of the houses were destroyed as the fire swiftly extended to Hiller’s neighboring property. A third house in the area was damaged. According to Anderson, officials have not yet assessed the damage’s cost.
Emergency personnel encountered numerous obstacles during the event, including blocked entryways and insufficient water pressure from nearby fire hydrants, according to East Cleveland Safety Director Mansell Baker. According to Baker, the city will deal with the problems with the water pressure.
Hiller was a person who cared about other people, according to Matthew Mills, who was adopted by him when he was eight years old.
Mills told The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com that he was a decent man. This was really surprising. Everyone was important to him. East Cleveland meant a lot to him.
