What to watch for today’s race
The Monster Mile at Dover is a unique experience that features a one-mile concrete surface and high banking at 24 degrees in all four corners. It’s the first oval race since Atlanta on June 28.
Shane van Gisbergen will be shooting for his third consecutive win after claiming victories at Sonoma and Chicago. He struggled as a Cup rookie on these tracks. The three-time Supercars champ has three victories this year but has finished no better than 14th on an oval course.
The inaugural in-season challenge has also reached its penultimate round. Ty Dillon, who started as a 32nd seed, continues to shock the field, reaching the final four drivers with a 17th-place finish in Sonoma. He will face No. 12 John Hunter Nemechek, who just slipped past Erik Jones to reach the semifinals. Sixth-seeded Ty Gibbs, the highest remaining seed, will face 23rd-seed Tyler Reddick in the second semifinal.
