Married couple who were Cleveland schools employees die in crash in North Carolina

The North Carolina town of Chapel Hill According to accounts, a Cleveland couple who worked for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District perished in a collision in North Carolina on Friday.

According to WRAL Channel 5, Donald Nunney, 55, and his wife, Maria Nunney, 50, were traveling to see relatives when the collision happened. The collision injured their two kids, a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

WNCN Channel 17 is informed by the North Carolina State Patrol.The collision happened shortly before 1:20 p.m. on Interstate 85/Interstate 40. According to the patrol, Donald Nunney’s 2018 Honda Odyssey veered off the right side of the road, struck multiple trees, descended an embankment, and finally struck a big tree.

According to WNCN, Maria Nunney was declared dead at the scene. After being transported by air to a Chapel Hill hospital, Donald Nunney passed away from his wounds.

According to accounts, both youngsters were transported to hospitals on Sunday, but their situations remained unknown.

Donald Nunney taught language arts at Joseph M. Gallagher Elementary School, according to WKYC Channel 3, a news partner of cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer. Maria Nunney worked at Wilbur Wright PreK–8 School as a school counselor.

For CMSD students, classes begin on Monday.

CMSD Communications Officer Jon Benedict tells WKYC, “We can confirm that we will have additional counselors and resources on hand to support the student and staff communities at the many impacted schools.” Other than expressing our sympathy for the family during this terrible time, that is all we are willing to say out of respect for them.
