Marco’s Pizza fundraiser to honor slain Lorain officer

Cleveland, Ohio ElevenIn honor of Phillip Wagner, the Lorain police officer who was shot and died at an industrial park last week, Marco’s Pizzalocations will contribute a portion of its profits.

Thursday, July 31st is the date of the fundraiser. Twenty percent of the company’s sales will be donated to the Lorain Police Officers Charitable Foundation.

Wagner and Lorain cop Peter Gale were ambushed by a shooter on July 23 when they were having pizza for lunch. When 47-year-old Patrolman Brent Payne arrived to assist his coworkers, he was shot.

In a statement, David Wiles of Marco’s Pizza said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the fallen hero’s family, friends, and fellow officers.” We shall always remember your bravery.

Wagner’s funeral is scheduled for today at 11 a.m. at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena.

A GoFundMe campaign was also started to help Wagner’s family.
