Milan, Ohio, is hosting its Mid Summer Antiques Festival this weekend from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are setups on the village square and all across the town.
With its historic museum and Edison’s birthplace, the community also pays homage to Thomas A. Edison, the Sights and Sounds Capital. Tours are welcome. Although there are fees, the experience is absolutely worth it.
You may come across old plates of Staffordshire while browsing the antiques; these provide an excellent setting for appreciating American history. Because of the tales their designs conveyed, they were known as talking plates.
They were created in England using high-quality clay and are still prized and treasured.
Scenes include Monticello, Washington’s Headquarters, Independence Hall, and Mount Vernon. Some were square, but most were circular and blue and white. Blue hues also differed, ranging from light to deep.
Hello Brenda
This traditional salad plate, one of four, has the Syracuse, China, USA stamp on it. I realized it was utilized at a well-known Cleveland eatery. Anything worthwhile today?

Hello Shiela
Your salad plates in blue and white are beautiful! The Onondga Pottery Co., the maker’s original name, was established in 1871 and produced them. Your plates are most likely from the 1930s or 1940s and bear the original back stamp of Syracuse, New York. They produced American china until April 4, 2009, after changing their name to Syracuse China Corp. in 1966. Your four oldies are worth $50.
