NEW YORK (AP) Consider it a dissolution symphony. Megadeth, the titans of American thrash metal, have declared that their upcoming album will be their final one. In 2026, they will also go on a farewell tour.
Many musicians have reached the end of their careers, whether on purpose or by accident. Dave Mustaine, the leader and founder of Megadeth, said in a statement on Thursday. The majority of them are unable to go out on their own terms, and that is where I am at the moment in my life. The most difficult part of all of this is having to say goodbye to the millions and millions of followers I have gained from my travels throughout the globe.
The title of the final record, its release date, and the band’s next tour dates have not yet been disclosed by Mustaine and the group.
The leader went on to write that the moment is right for the band to release their last album and go on their last tour.
Come celebrate with me over the next few years; don’t be angry or depressed; instead, be happy for all of us. “Together, we have accomplished something genuinely amazing that is unlikely to occur again,” he wrote. We revolutionized the guitar world and how it is played, we created a revolution, we established a musical style, and we changed the world. The world has been impacted by the bands I was a part of. For that, I adore you all. I appreciate everything you’ve done.
Following the band’s Wednesday teaser post, “The end is near,” the message was released.
Following Mustaine’s departure from Metallica, a band he co-founded, Megadeth was established in 1983. In 1985, Megadeth’s first album, Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good, was released.
