CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Orchestra is getting into the holiday spirit a little early this year. The orchestra has announced five additions to its 2025-26 season at Severance Music Center as part of its ‘Christmas in July’ promotion. The lineup includes four movie-related events.
Things kick off in suspenseful fashion in the fall. On Nov. 5 and Nov. 7, the world-renowned orchestra performs Bernard Herrmann’s iconic scores for a pair of Alfred Hitchcock thrillers: “Psycho” and “Vertigo,” respectively. Both films will be screened in full as the orchestra plays the music live, adding a thrilling dimension to two of the director’s most famous movies.
Then in December, the holiday festivities begin with two performances of the 2000 live-action “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” starring Jim Carrey as the beloved green curmudgeon. The orchestra, conducted by Vinay Parameswaran, will perform James Horner’s whimsical score live alongside the film on Dec. 9 and 10.
The popular a cappella group Voctave keeps the spirit of the season alive with a concert on Dec. 11. The 11-member vocal ensemble, known for its viral videos and rich harmonies, brings its holiday spectacular “It Feels Like Christmas” to Severance for one night only.
Rounding out the newly announced events is a live-to-picture presentation of Disney and Pixar’s “Up,
”
on Feb. 13 and 15. Audiences can relive Carl and Russell’s heartwarming adventure with composer Michael Giacchino’s Oscar-winning score performed live by the orchestra, conducted by Brett Mitchell.
