‘Harry Potter’ star’s driver’s license suspended for 6 months

“Harry Potter” star actress Emma Watson has been suspended from driving for six months after she was caught speeding, according to reports.

Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise, was ticketed for driving her blue Audi at 38 mph in a 30-mph zone in Oxford, England, on July 31, 2024, according to BBC. She previously had nine points on her driver’s license.

Watson, who

stepped away from acting

in 2019, was ordered to pay £1,044 – about $1,400 USD – during a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. She did not attend the five-minute hearing.

Watson, now a student, has been pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford since 2023, per

Shortly after Watson’s court hearing, the same court also held a hearing for a speeding offense involving Watson’s “Harry Potter” co-star Zoë Wanamaker, who played Quidditch referee Madam Hooch in the franchise’s first film,

reports. Wanamaker received the same driving ban and monetary fine as Watson after she was ticketed for driving 46 mph in a 40-mph zone in Berkshire, England, in August 2024. She also had nine points on her license.

Watson said during a 2023 interview that while she “wasn’t very happy” during her acting career, she confirmed that her respite from acting is temporary.
