Chicago The Guardians vs. White Sox series opener at Rate Field on Thursday has been rained out. It will now take place on Friday as a day-night doubleheader.
The game has been postponed and will begin at 3:10 p.m. At 8:10 p.m., the regularly scheduled game is set to begin.

Gavin Williams will start for the Guardians in the second game, while left-hander Logan Allen will start the first.
Shane Smith and Jonathan Cannon will start for the White Sox in Game 1 and Game 2, respectively.

The Astros, who lead the AL West, were swept by the Guardians three games ago. With a 2-1 victory Wednesday, the White Sox avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of AL East-leading Toronto.
As they attempt to bounce back from a 10-game losing streak in which they were shut out five times, the Guardians are 3-6 in July. Between 31 and 62, the White Sox have lost twice as many games as they have won.
This year, Cleveland has split two doubleheaders.
