Criminal mischief: College Road
Officers discovered that numerous fire extinguishers had been utilized throughout the former Notre Dame College administration building when they inspected it with the fire department on August 15.
There was no one inside, but the double doors at the back of the building were propped open with zip ties removed from the handles.
When the building’s fire alarm went off at 7:15 p.m. the next night, responding cops discovered that fire extinguishers had been used once again. Once more, there was no one inside the structure.
Officers paid close eye to the site, and on August 17, they discovered four youths next to a building maintenance entry where a window had previously been exploited to enter.
On foot, the guys ran toward Oakmount Road and onto the Mayfield County Club’s land. After that, they were all apprehended and identified.
Three males from South Euclid and one from Lyndhurst, both 13 years old, will be charged in juvenile court.
Vehicle recovered from theft: Warrensville Center Road
After reviewing CCTV footage, the occupants of a stolen car found in the Walmart parking lot on August 12 were apprehended.
Three boys and two girls, all between the ages of eleven and fifteen, lived in Cleveland.
After being notified, their parents arrived to collect them.
There are still charges in juvenile court.
South Belvoir Boulevard Animals
On August 15, numerous calls regarding a dog straying in the street were received.
Because it was untagged, officers were able to capture it and take it to the city kennel. After a prior complaint led them to identify the dog’s owner, they got in touch with the 33-year-old man who arrived to pick up the dog and was given a citation for allowing pets to go loose and failing to wear tags.
Damage to property: Eastway Road
On August 15, a resident complained that their window was broken because their neighbors’ kids had thrown pebbles into their yard.
The resident stated that they will seek restitution with the children’s guardian instead of pursuing any criminal proceedings.
Damage to property: Victory Drive
On August 16, a shattered windowpane was discovered in the city’s community center.
Officers could find no proof of how the damage happened.
Theft: Center Road in Warrensville
On August 12, a 17-year-old Cleveland girl and her 10-year-old sister were busted shoplifting at Walmart.
The parents of the youngsters were called by the officers regarding the event, but they did not come to take them into custody. Officers instead took the kids to the Jane Edna facility in Cleveland, pointing out that a case pertaining to the kids’ welfare was already open with child and family services.
The sole action taken by Walmart management was to ban the teen from the store.
Wildlife: Bayard Road
On August 14, a woman reported that an American bulldog bit her and her Shih Tzu puppy while they were out for a stroll.
According to her, the attacking dog’s owner got it and took it inside their house.
She suffered injuries to her hands as a result of the incident, and her dog needed veterinary care.
A citation for dogs running loose was later issued to the owner of the attacking dog.
Winston Road was the recovered stolen vehicle.
At 3:40 a.m. on August 16, a guy from Cleveland claimed that he was following his stolen vehicle to a South Euclid address.
Officers on the scene discovered the vehicle parked in a resident’s driveway, vacant. He said that the automobile had been stolen when it was left running and unattended, and the owner was informed and scheduled to pick it up.
Officers met with the residents where the car was discovered later that day, but they were clueless as to who had placed it there.
