The arrests come following an investigation that started in March 2025 when locals expressed worries about drug use in Hampstead Square and Mall Park.

Those in charge include:

  • Laron Eva Horlback, 46, of Charleston, charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine base and three counts of distribution near a school.

One suspect is still at large, according to the police. Chevelle Antoine Hamilton, 45, of North Charleston, is wanted on suspicion of distributing cocaine base.

Chito Walker, the chief of police in Charleston, highlighted the department’s dedication to maintaining the safety of public areas.

According to him, our neighborhoods should have parks and playgrounds that are unaffected by unlawful activities; these are areas where families may congregate without fear. The standard of living in each Charleston neighborhood will be safeguarded by these neighborhood-based initiatives.
