EDWINS Leadership Institute raises $450K at annual La Bastille event

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The

annual La Bastille celebration

at

EDWINS

brought in more than $450,000 for the nonprofit Leadership & Restaurant Institute’s fine-dining training ground for recently released incarcerated individuals.

More than 500 people attended the celebration on Saturday, July 12, at the restaurant’s new location in Cleveland Heights. EDWINS moved from Shaker Square to the former Nighttown space, 12383 Cedar Road, earlier this year.

“Thank you to our sponsors, attendees, donors and those who supported our silent auction and raffle. Special thanks to our volunteers, board of directors, junior board members and the team at EDWINS,” founder/owner Brandon Chrostowski said in a press release.

La Bastille is EDWINS annual French-themed fundraiser, recognizing a key moment in French history when the country’s Bastille prison was stormed in 1789, marking the country’s national holiday of independence. Champagne, live music and French cuisine were all apart of the celebration.

Chrostowski recently won a prestigious 2025

James Beard Foundation Impact Award.

The

award was new for 2025

and is an achievement award given by the Beard Foundation’s Board of Trustees Impact Committee to recognize efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive culinary landscape.
