Darius Rucker is not one to mess with when it comes to scams.
The country singer, known for Hootie & the Blowfish fame, took to social media to make it clear that scammer accounts will not be tolerated.
In a
message
posted to his official X account Saturday afternoon, Rucker wrote: “Yo don’t you have anything better to do than try to scam people. U guys are the friggin worse. U are not me and have nothing to do with me. Friggin losers man!!”
Rucker tagged the supposed scammer account, which went by Darius_Rucker15, which appears to no longer exist.
Fans of the “Only Wanna Be With You” singer seemed to echo his sentiments about these types of accounts, which have been known to impersonate various celebrities. Sometimes, these accounts attempt to scam people out of their money.
“Reported his for impersonation. Everyone Should! Love ya Darius,” a fan wrote.
“Thank you Darius. Some friendly people on X and a lot of nutjobs too. Sadly, they scam many good-hearted people into sending cash and Apple cards,” another person said.
This has been a notable week for Rucker. On Tuesday he
abruptly ended a concert
in Atlantic City, New Jersey, after performing just three songs. He told fans, “Y’all, I can’t sing anymore,” after his voice cracked throughout his performance.
I will play one more song,” Rucker, 59, said, “I promise you we’re going to figure this out. … This never happened. I physically can’t sing … I will make this up to you.”
