Ohio’s Claridon Township At a crossroads that has been the subject of safety concerns, a rollover collision Saturday morning claimed the life of a Chardon man and injured two others.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Donny Grigsby Sr., 46, was declared deceased at the scene, according to Cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer news partner WKYC Channel 3. Claridon Township’s University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center provided limited medical care to the other two crash victims.
The collision was reported at 9:11 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Chardon-Windsor Road and Ohio 608, according to a news release from the Chardon Fire Department. Firefighters discovered two severely damaged cars when they got there.
According to the Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck moving north on Ohio 608 struck Grigsby, who was driving a Chevrolet S10, as he stopped at the junction while heading east on Chardon-Windsor Road. Grigsby did not yield at the stop sign.
According to the patrol, the Dodge Ram included the two injured individuals.
According to the news release, the fire department has been addressing concerns regarding the intersection in collaboration with the Claridon Township Trustees, the Geauga County Engineers Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Within the next six to eight weeks, the crossroads will be converted to a four-way stop, according to the fire department.
