With almost ten seasons, The Big Bang Theory is among the most popular sitcoms on television in the last 20 years.
Additionally, it gave rise to the highly popular spinoff Young Sheldon, which paved the way for the success of George & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Producers of television shows seem to be expecting that trend would continue.Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, another spinoff, has been authorized for HBO Max, according to Variety.
Stuart, the struggling proprietor of a comic book business that the main characters frequented, was a supporting character on The Big Bang Theory. He had occasional appearances in previous seasons, but as the show developed, he became a regular.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Zak Penn, Chuck Lorre, and Bill Prady, who co-created The Big Bang Theory, are working on the new program. Kevin Sussman will play Stuart again.
According to CNN, a number of other Big Bang Theory cast members are also making a comeback, including John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke, Lauren Lapkus as Stuart’s girlfriend Denise, and Brian Posehn as Stuart’s pal who is a geologist.
Deadline claims that there will be a significant amount of science-fiction in the upcoming program. It seems that Stuart inadvertently triggers a universe Armageddon by breaking a device that Sheldon and Leonard developed. Then he has to strive to bring reality back.
In a statement, Lorre stated, “I wanted to do something radical that would take me out of my comfort zone,” according to Variety. Something that the Big Bang Theory characters would have fought, disliked, and loved.
Actors from the original series are likely to play their characters in alternate universes, according to Deadline.
According to Deadline, the program should be prepared for broadcast by the spring of 2026.
