Lakewood, Ohio Issa Elkhatib and Mo Mansour, two Cleveland entrepreneurs, are getting ready to open a second Battrstore in Lakewood after successfully opening their first one in Tremont in 2023. Additionally, they are searching for a third site for their creative dessert cafe.
Battr is well-known for its liege waffles, French crepes, and Korean bubble waffles with Italian-style gelato. Cone-shaped waffles filled with one of 12 gelato varieties are made to order. They are then garnished with whipped cream, candies, fruit, or sauce.
The cookie butter fosters bubble waffle ($14) is Tremont’s most well-liked dessert. Salted caramel gelato, bananas, candied pecans, Biscoff cookie, caramel sauce, and Biscoff cookie butter sauce are all added to a Korean bubble waffle for this purpose.
The Oreo blast smoothie ($7) and the cr me brul crepe ($15) are the second most popular.
Elkahatib stated, “We were really experimenting with our dessert concept in Tremont,” pointing out the blending of several cultures in dishes such Korean waffles, Italian gelato, and French crepes.
“We have received tremendous satisfaction with the concept,” he stated. We have a clearer understanding of what people find appealing about our ideas after moving from Tremont. We want to start growing and move it forward.
In addition to being larger, the new store’s capability presents a chance to get involved in catering and, eventually, gelato production.
Compared to Tremont, which was modified to accommodate a two-story historic building, the Lakewood location promises a more contemporary design. The Lakewood shop will have more seating and manufacturing capability on 1,700 square feet distributed over one floor, compared to the original Battr’s 20 seats in 1,300 square feet split over two stories.
According to Elkhatib, Lakewood felt like a logical move from Tremont. Giving them a special dessert experience is our aim.
They are developing new items.
He stated, “We are working on a few things, but nothing substantial enough to discuss.” The menu will expand for you to see.
Midway through the fall, the new Battr will open at 15000 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. Compared to the Tremont site, the hours will be extended.
