New York, PEMBROKE A tour bus traveling from Niagara Falls to New York City toppled onto its side in a collision on Interstate 90 in Pembroke, New York, east of Buffalo, on Friday afternoon, killing five people and injuring scores more, according to the Associated Press.
According to authorities, the bus veered off the road and rolled into a roadside ditch when the driver apparently lost control and overcorrected, according to AP.
According to People, the preliminary investigation has ruled out mechanical failure and impairment.
A total of 54 passengers, ages 1 to 74, were on the bus, according to AP. Officials subsequently verified that all five casualties were adults, despite initial reports indicating that children were among the dead.

The majority of the passengers were Chinese, Filipino, and Indian, according to The Guardian. To help with the reaction efforts, interpreters were deployed to the location.
According to AP, a team from the National Transportation Safety Board has been sent to look into the collision.
Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York State, said on X that she had received a briefing on the matter.
