The city of New York The original Dawson’s Creek cast is preparing for an uncommon reunion: According to Entertainment Weekly, there will be a live, on-stage reading of the show’s pilot screenplay to support actor James Van Der Beek during his fight with stage 3 colon cancer and to raise money for cancer awareness.
The Dawson’s Creek Class Reunion is a one-night event that will take place at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City on Monday, September 22. According to People, it will help the charitable organization F Cancer and honor Van Der Beek, who had a diagnosis last year.
According to EW, Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson, Katie Holmes, and other series alumni—some of whom joined the ensemble in later seasons—join Van Der Beek on stage to do a nostalgic reading of the pilot.
According to cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer’s resident pop culture expert Joey Morona, the Dawson’s Creek premiere is one of the most important episodes of its time, consisting of memorable events, quotable lines, and relatable characters. I’m just concerned that parts of it, such as Pacey’s relationship with his teacher, might not have held up over time.
According to People, Dawson’s Creek veteran Jason Moore is directing the event, and creator Kevin Williamson is producing it with help from Greg Berlanti and other well-known figures in the business.
Fans will get a unique opportunity to experience the series while contributing to a worthy cause when tickets go on sale through Broadway Direct on Friday.
