CLEVELAND, OhioSherrod Brown made a mistake on Monday in his attempt to reenter the U.S. Senate in the position formerly occupied by Vice President JD Vance, which is currently occupied by Sen. Jon Husted, who was nominated by Governor Mike DeWine. This was as predictable as Joe Flacco starting for the Browns.
Will Brown or Husted regret not running against Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio governor in November 2026?
Some had interpreted Brown and his wife Connie Schultz’s transfer from Northeast Ohio to the Columbus area as an indication that they were planning to run for governor.
Brown lost by three percentage points to Bernie Moreno for the U.S. Senate seat he had held for three terms. The race for the U.S. Senate was the most costly in history.
The takeaway from Brown’s return videos and interviews is that the rise in living expenses and the detrimental effects of tariffs over the last eight months motivated him to leave the sidelines.
On the same day that Brown declared his intention to run in the midterm elections, Home Depot declared that it will be boosting prices as a result of the Trump tariff charges.
According to The Hill, Brown has already raised $3.6 million on the first day, putting him in a strong financial position.
