Ohio’s Westlake
Gun, OVI: Crocker Road
On August 3, around 3:45 a.m., officers saw a motorist run a red light and pulled over on Crocker Road at Detroit Road.
According to a police department statement, the driver, a 34-year-old man from the Bronx, New York, admitted to having an open container of beer and a marijuana cigarette when an officer saw the goods in plain sight. After observing indications of intoxication, the officer repeatedly requested that the man exit the vehicle. The police claim that he did not follow those instructions.
When the officer saw that the individual had a gun in his hoodie pocket, he once more gave the order to exit the vehicle. As soon as the suspect emerged, officers pursued him and he immediately escaped on foot. According to the police, the man was told to stop and to stop reaching for the gun, but he refused to do so until he stumbled, lost grip of the revolver, and was pulled to the pavement.
According to a police statement, the man fought the officers’ attempts to restrain him as they retrieved the Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard.380 handgun off the ground. At last, he was restrained and brought to the Westlake prison. The man was charged with OVI, handling firearms inappropriately, and disobeying a traffic control device after his automobile was towed.
According to a news release from the police department, the suspect’s previous past made it illegal for him to own a firearm.
OVI collision: Detroit Road
At 5:00 p.m. on August 2, officers arrived at the intersection of Detroit Road and Crocker Road to investigate a car crash involving the deployment of airbags.
According to a press release from the police department, one of the cars had drove off, but it had just entered the parking lot of a local business. An evidently inebriated woman waved the officers down from the tree lawn of a nearby company as they were chatting with the driver of the van that had been hit and severely damaged. She claimed that because he had three DUIs, the man who had been operating the car she was in had run away.
She claimed that her car keys were stolen by the man, who she only knew as Kevin.
An inebriated male who was interested in the disturbance was spotted by the officers lingering around close. He confessed to being the driver when the police confronted him after the woman denied his involvement.
According to reports, the woman, a 35-year-old Cleveland resident, yelled at the man, telling him to leave the area so the police wouldn’t identify him.
The man was charged with operating a car while intoxicated and doing a prohibited U-turn after officers gave him field sobriety tests. The female traveler received a citation for obstruction for being drunk and unruly in public.
A breathalyzer test was refused by the driver. There were no injuries.
