Ohio’s Huntsburg Township Geauga County experienced a little tornado on Tuesday that damaged multiple structures, uprooted trees, and injured cattle.
The tornado had a maximum wind speed of 85 mph and was classified as an EF-0 by the National Weather Service. It traveled a quarter of a mile and remained on the ground for around a minute. It was no wider than 75 yards.
At around 8:45 p.m., the tornado made landfall in Huntsburg Township, approximately three miles northeast of Middlefield Village, west of Ohio 528 and south of Burton-Windsor Road. The NWS reported that it shattered the branches off of multiple trees and uprooted a huge tree.
The tornado proceeded northeast after crossing Ohio 528. Two tiny structures sustained significant roof damage, while three buildings on a farm east of Ohio 528 were damaged. There was also damage to a massive barn’s roof.
According to the Weather Service, three of the livestock on the site were hurt.
On the Enhanced Fujita Scale, an EF-0 tornado has average winds of 65 to 85 mph, making it the weakest tornado. An EF-5 is the strongest, with winds of more than 200 mph.
