Ohio’s LYNDHURST — The murder of a guy in a garage on South Sedgewick Road has led to the arrest of a man from Tennessee.
Police were called to a residence in the 5000 block of South Sedgewick at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Friday, August 8.
Officers discovered a man on the floor of the adjacent garage. It looked as though the victim had been shot multiple times in the leg, stomach, and back.
The suspect was no longer there.
Before EMS arrived and took the victim to Hillcrest Hospital, where he passed away at approximately 11:45 p.m., responding officers provided emergency care.
Following an altercation in the victim’s garage, preliminary information suggests that the victim was shot by a known male acquaintance, according to a news release released by Lyndhurst Police Chief Patrick Rhode.
Immediately after the incident, the suspect drove off in an unidentified direction.
After a chase by the Highway Patrol near Cincinnati, the suspect was apprehended with the help of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service/Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
In Lyndhurst Municipal Court, Francisco V. Volinski, 36, of La Vergne, Tennessee, has been officially charged with murder.
The Lyndhurst police statement states that no more suspect information or details on the type of firearm used are available.
Additionally, the LPD withheld additional details regarding the victim.
According to the LPD announcement, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office are assisting the LPD Detective Bureau in the initial stages of the investigation.
