Mentor police arrest 4 after early morning break-in at car dealership

MENTOR, Ohio Early on Thursday morning, Mentor police responded to complaints of suspicious behavior at a nearby car dealership and made four arrests.

According to Mentor police, at 1:29 a.m. on July 20, officers were summoned to Classic Ford on Tyler Boulevard after hearing complaints of men in masks tugging on car door handles. The accused fled into the surrounding woods as the police arrived.

Three boys were found and taken into custody by police. In a news release, officials did not specify their ages.The lads were accused of possessing illegal tools, interfering with official business, violating curfew, possessing marijuana, and giving a police officer false information. Later, they were given back to their parents.

An officer saw a car parked in the middle of the road in front of Alba Construction in the 8600 block of Twinbrook Road while they were still searching the area for other suspects. Treymond Crawford, an 18-year-old Garfield Heights resident, was taken into custody by police.

Crawford, according to the police, was a member of the same group and had recently stolen a Jeep Cherokee from Alba Construction, which is located close. He was accused of many driving infractions, possession of illegal tools, and auto theft.

In order to ascertain whether the vehicles the group arrived in were also stolen, mentor police are still investigating.
