AVON, Ohio — Major roadwork begins today at one of Avon’s busiest intersections, as construction begins on the long-planned Detroit Road and State Route 83 Intersection Improvement Project.
The project aims to ease congestion by widening both Detroit Road and State Route 83. New through lanes and turn lanes will be added, enhancing the overall traffic flow and functionality of the intersection.
Additional improvements include pavement resurfacing, new traffic signage, pavement marking replacements and upgraded and newly installed traffic signals.
To help keep traffic moving during construction, crews will add pavement on the east side of State Route 83, just south of Detroit Road. Some work will take place overnight to minimize daytime delays.
City officials are asking drivers to use caution in designated construction zones and allow extra time for their commute while construction is ongoing.
