WESTLAKE, Ohio – A traffic stop at 8 p.m. on July 4 on Sperry Drive led to the arrests of two people on drug charges.
When officers approached a Honda sedan during a traffic stop for equipment violations, they noticed the car contained numerous brand-new cell phone cases scattered around the interior as well as black tape covering what appeared to be bullet holes on the exterior.
A patrol K9 alerted to the vehicle, and the officers discovered that the car contained suspected methamphetamine as well as scales, glass smoking pipes, and empty sandwich bags. Investigators noted that two of the smaller sandwich bags had safety pins through the tops. A history check showed that the male suspect, a 48-year-old Cleveland man, had recently been searched at a jail, and drugs were found safety pinned to his underwear.
Police arrested the male driver and a female passenger, a 40-year-old also from Cleveland. They were charged with felony trafficking of methamphetamine due to the weight of the recovered narcotics, according to a police press release.
