CLEVELAND, Ohio — Tuesday, Guardians Steven Kwan with two strikes, hit the All Star game-tying RBI in the ninth inning.
Mayor Justin Bibb might seek Kwan’s tips for ‘RBI’s’ as he swings to drive in developer’s bids and ideas for Cleveland’s lakefront without, or with reuse of the stadium.
Tuesday, the city officially took it’s first swing for developing developers visions for the lakefront beyond the Rock Hall and Science center.
“The vision will consider developing 50 acres of development on the lakefront without the Cleveland Browns. I’ll be very crystal clear about that,
” Mayor Bibb said.
Rich Exner reported for cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer,
that when Bibb was asked if that meant the Browns were now in the rearview mirror, he replied:
“I’m focusing on developing a world class lakefront without the Browns.”
While the Browns playing in the lakefront stadium may be in the rearview mirror come ‘28/’29, that actual stadium might not be. Mayor Bibb at the same time said he’s also open to seeing developer’s game plans with the stadium being reused.
Browns owners, Dee and Jimmy Haslam have already indicated they would work with the city in having the stadium demolished if desired.
Currently directly on the north side of Huntington Stadium, which could become the ‘Bibb Bowl’ sits an open parking lot. The city expects to pick a developer or team of them by October 24.
