Cleveland Ballet returns to Vermilion for Picasso-inspired summer performance

VERMILION, OHCleveland Ballet’s yearly summer performance will take place at Vermilion’s historic Harbourtown Fine Arts Center on Saturday, July 26. An exclusive reception featuring wines, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages will take place inside the Opera at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., the outdoor show takes place on the lawn.

A variety of classical performances will be presented to guests, highlighting Pablo Picasso’s association with Ballets Russes through selections from Don Quixote and Paquita. Cleveland Ballet will also perform the fanciful pas de deux Harlequinade, which uses movement to evoke the intensity, color, and emotions of Picasso’s well-known Harlequin paintings. Cleveland Ballet artist Katharine Cowan produced the closing piece, “What Do We Do Now,” which was performed during the company’s ChoreoLab program.

Cleveland dance’s educational impact coordinator and HFAC President Jim Chapple stated, “It’s always a joy to see the community come together to experience world-class ballet in such a charming setting, right here in our own backyard.”

Following the performance, Cleveland Ballet spectators can take advantage of a reduced dinner package at the award-winning Chez Fran restaurant. Chef John D. Amico’s five-course meal costs $115 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. To make a reservation, call the restaurant at 440-967-0630.

Dracula’s reappearance in late October marks the beginning of the ballet’s 2025–2026 season.
