Over the course of her lengthy career, country music icon Dolly Parton has written numerous singles as a prolific composer.
However, for the past few months, Parton has struggled to write new music as she continues to grieve the loss of her husband, Carl Dean. When Dean passed away in March, the couple had been together for over 60 years.
In an interview with Khlo Kardashian’s “Khlo in Wonder Land” podcast, Parton stated, “My husband passed away three months ago,” according to Billboard. I’ve wanted to start a few things, but I’m not able to. I’m simply coming up with such lovely, amazing ideas, but I’ll do that later. However, I doubt I will complete it.
According to Parade, Parton, 79, has announced that she is taking a hiatus from her musical career.
“I’m not capable,” she said. I can’t do it at the moment since I have too many other things to afford the luxury of feeling upset at this time.
She has faith in her ability to create new music in the future. But if it arrives, I’ll write something else, she added. I’m simply putting all of it on hold.
One of Parton’s iconic songs, Jolene, was inspired by Dean. Partont revealed to NPR in 2008 that the song was inspired by a flirtatious bank teller who appeared to be interested in Dean.
In 1966, Parton and Dean tied the knot. Even while Parton was extremely famous, her husband was typically kept out of the spotlight.
After Dean passed away, Parton posted on social media, “I had a lot of great years with Carl.” The love we had for more than 60 years is beyond words.
In 1967, Parton’s first of 49 studio albums was released. With over 100 million recordings sold, she is among the best-selling musicians of all time. On the country music charts, she has had 25 No. 1 hits.
She has penned over 3,000 songs, many of which have gone on to become blockbusters for other musicians.
