Two people arrested following drug bust in Illinois

Illinois Large amounts of drugs and many firearms were found during a drug and weapons investigation that resulted in the arrest of two men in Freeport on Thursday.

Around 12:31 p.m., police stopped a tan Toyota Highlander at the junction of Stewart Avenue and American Street, according to the Freeport Police Department.

Police said they found almost three pounds of cannabis inside the car.

Investigators conducting surveillance later that afternoon saw 41-year-old Juston Driver departing a home in the 700 block of West Cottonwood Street at 2:04 p.m.

The driver, according to the officers, packed a big black bag into a black Toyota Highlander.

Police say they found four pounds of cannabis, 19 grams of cocaine, and a semi-automatic weapon with a 50-round ammunition drum when they pulled over the car at West Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard.

Even more illegal items were found during a follow-up search of the Cottonwood Street residence, including 952 grams of cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic weapon, an AR-15 style pistol with a switch device that allowed for automatic firing, and more ammo.

Both people were arrested and charged with a number of crimes, including illegal firearm possession, violations of the Controlled Substances Act, and violations of the Cannabis Control Act. The Stephenson County Jail received their booking.
