Florida Three people were arrested on several crimes during a brief police pursuit following a beer theft at a nearby 7-Eleven on Saturday night, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Cpl. Michael Stringer was filling his police car at the 7-Eleven on SE Baseline Road at approximately 9:45 p.m. on June 28 when the incident happened.
He was approached by a store employee who informed him that three cases of Modelo beer had just been stolen, as shown on the dash camera of the establishment.
When Cpl. Stringer saw the suspicious car pulling out of the parking lot, he tried to start a traffic stop.
After refusing to stop, the driver—later identified as 31-year-old Jaitai Williams—ran off into Southeast 92nd Loop. There was a brief chase that ended when Stringer used a PIT maneuver to stop the car.
Raymond Myrick, 48, a front-seat passenger, was arrested after it was discovered that he was tossing objects from the car that were later found to contain fentanyl, cocaine, and THC. Drug possession led to Myrick’s detention.
The person who stole the beer was found to be Steven Hogan, a 19-year-old passenger in the backseat. The stolen beer was found by deputies in his seat area.
The Marion County Jail received all three of the suspects. Myrick is accused of possessing cocaine and marijuana, Hogan is accused of retail petty theft, and Williams is accused of running away to avoid police.
