One person arrested following drug bust in Indiana

INDIANA — A Dayton, Ohio, man is facing new felony drug charges in Wayne County after authorities say he distributed narcotics while out on bond from a separate drug case earlier this year.

According to court documents filed Thursday, 32-year-old Davonta “Hotboy” Chatman has been charged with one count of dealing in a narcotic drug and one count of dealing in cocaine, both Level 2 felonies.

The charges stem from a recent investigation launched by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office into suspected drug activity on Richmond’s south side.

On Monday, deputies searched a home in the 700 block of South F Street and reportedly found multiple ounces of fentanyl and cocaine. Chatman was arrested at the scene.

Court records show Chatman was already out on bond from a previous drug arrest in January 2025.

In that case, deputies searched a home in the 700 block of South Eighth Street, where they also recovered drugs. He had been charged with dealing in a narcotic drug and dealing in cocaine in that earlier investigation.

In total, the two investigations resulted in the seizure of more than 160 grams of fentanyl, over 90 grams of cocaine, and more than $12,000 in cash, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Our deputies are doing a great job getting dangerous drugs off the streets in Wayne County,” said Chief Deputy Alan Moore. “This case is a strong example of what we can accomplish through persistent investigative work and the ongoing cooperation we have with other police agencies.”

Chatman has since posted a $7,500 cash bond related to the latest charges. His initial court appearance is scheduled for June 11. A jury trial for his earlier drug case remains set for August 5.
